The Open Society Fund (OSF) Prague chapter has announced it will provide a Kč 11.5 million grant to support a new anti-corruption and freedom of information initiative named after Otakar Motejl, a former Czech justice minister and president of the Supreme Court who went on to become the country's first ombudsman.Motejl – regularly named in public opinion polls as among the most trusted public officials in the Czech Republic — had served as ombudsman for a decade before he died in May 2010 at the age of 77.

Financier and philanthropist George Soros accused the Czech Republic and its prime minister, Petr Necas, of doing nothing to end the segregation of Roma children in public schools."He could do it if he wanted to," the Hungarian-born American said after a visit to two schools in central Prague with a high proportion of children from the Roma and other socially excluded groups.
Soros was on a three-day visit to the Czech capital, during which he attended a meeting of the Decade of Roma Inclusion, an initiative his Open Society Fund and the World Bank launched in 2005. It now includes 12 mostly Central and Eastern European countries and global organizations.

George Soros visited the Czech Republic, a country where he spends EUR 100,000 every year on projects aimed at an inclusion of Roma children into the education process.
George Soros is a Hungary-born US businessman best known for his speculation against the British pound in 1992, which earned him a fortune and a nickname "the man who broke the Bank of England." Recently, he is known for his philanthropic activities, mostly carried out within the framework of his Open Society Fund. Many of these projects are aimed at an inclusion of ethnic minorities such as Roma people.
