Program:East East
Organization:Centre for the Study of Democracy and Culture (Centrum pro studium demokracie a kultury)
City:Brno
Country:Jihomoravský
Year:2010
Amount:200 400 CZK
The project was implemented by the Centre for Politics and Euro-Atlantic Partnership (Novi Sad, Serbia) and the Centre for the Study of Democracy and Culture (Brno, Czech Republic). Its aim was to support an international media cooperation leading to increased knowledge, professional capacities, and the effective exchange of information between journalists from Serbia and the Czech Republic. Special attention was paid to following topics: decentralization and regionalization, protection of the basic human and minority rights, processes of privatization and digitalization of media, restitutions and lustration. These political and juridical steps, which have been made during a democratic transition in the Czech Republic, will be unavoidable for Serbia on its way to the EU.

The project included two exchange visits. A group of 8 Czech journalists firstly visited Novi Sad in the province of Vojvodina in April 2010. Then, a 10 member group of Serbian journalists visited the Czech Republic in May 2010. Through these visits, the journalists from both regions had a chance, from different perspectives, not only to consider but also to enhance their own media capacities as well as the capacities of the media they worked for.
