Civic Education in Schools: Citizens in Schools

The project was implemented by Association for International Affairs based in Prague, Czech Republic, and two Ukrainian partners – Ukrainian School Heads Association (USHA) from Kyiv and the Institutes of Postgraduate Pedagogical Education in Luhansk, Kharkov and Donetsk. The overall objective of the extensive project was to raise the currently low level of awareness of civil society and civil rights in Ukraine through civic education and the use of interactive methods in educational process.

The OSF Prague supported two activities of the project:

1. Study visit to the Czech Republic for 8 Ukrainian teachers (June 2010): The teachers visited Czech schools and learned more about concrete implementation of interactive methods.

2. Conference in Kyiv (October 2010): Six Czech educational experts and practitioners spoke about their experience on various aspects of civic education, educational policy, publication of textbooks etc. at the conference.
