In 2009 and 2010, Transitions received support from the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the East East: Partnership Beyond Borders Program to conduct a training project for journalists in Serbia, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Kosovo in covering issues related to the environment. The project included:
1. An online distance learning course about reporting environmental issues and investigative journalism
2. A follow-up seminar in Sarajevo: 15 best participants from the distance course (five each from Bosnia, Serbia and Kosovo) were invited to a workshop that focused on investigative techniques and understanding environmental issues.
3. "Shoulder-to-shoulder" reporting where project staff worked side-by-side in the field with the trainees on real stories.
4. Project website served as a resource as well as a multimedia outlet for the journalists.
5. Study trip: Five of the most successful participants were invited to Prague to take part in a reporting assignment.
